25 Book Challenge to End the Year

Earlier this year, on #BookSky, there was a challenge to choose twenty books that have stayed with you or influenced you. The books were posted in no particular order, one per day. Posts did not provide explanations or reviews, just the covers.

Here, I will keep with that spirit, but I do want to share my thoughts on books and their impact on my life.

I was new to BlueSky when I first saw the challenge; it was just a few days on the app. I thought it would be hard to think of 20 influential books. I mean, what does that even mean?

Books have influenced many aspects of my life in many ways. Some were just the right book at the right time to comfort me. Some gave me hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of daydreaming. Some taught me essential lessons about the world, and others taught me important lessons about myself. I learned important lessons about being myself and how to interact with others. Books allowed me to travel far away places and empathize with those I have or will never meet.

Books have been that friend I do not always keep up with but who will always be there for me when I need them. In 2021, I chose to be more intentional in cultivating this relationship. I began my reading challenge—something for me but which I share with others.

A Book Cover Advent Calendar

For the beginning of December, here is a book cover of the advent calendar of some of those that stay with me. I hope you can experience the joys of reading, whether from novels or texts, fiction or nonfiction, or both fantastical and practical. Reading is for everyone.
